Surely one of the most inaccessible places on earth; if you have ever seen a view of the village Bandiagara set against the Macina Mountains, with the cave entrances distant & high on the cliffs, you know it. The publisher, Fortier in Dakar Sénégal counted this amongst his best views, and added his advertising to the back of this example: "POST CARDS / Great choice of wiews(sic) and / natives of whole / West Africa. / COLLECTION FORTIER / on sale at FORTIER / CLOSE TO POST-OFFICE". Because of the error in the advertising, it is not likely that many were distributed like this.
